If the NBA playoff bracket was cemented today, the Pelicans would hold the #6 seed in the West and face the #3 OKC Thunder in the first round. The Kings would be the #8 seed and visit #7 Phoenix in the 7-vs-8 Play-In Game for the right to play #2 Minnesota in round one.
Pelicans Start Road Trip with Back-to-Back Wins
After a concerning four-game home losing streak, the Pelicans started their current four-game road trip with back-to-back victories over Phoenix (113-105) and Portland (110-110).
CJ McCollum had a team-high 31 against the Suns, while Trey Murphy III was the high man with 31 against the Blazers.
Brandon Ingram (20.9 PPG, 5.8 APG, 5.1 APG) remains out for New Orleans due to a knee injury that’s sidelined him since March 21st. Larry Nance Jr (5.6 PPG, 5.0 RPG) is also out due to personal reasons, while Naji Marshall (7.1 PPG, 3.9 RPG) is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury.
The Pels are sixth in the NBA in Net Rating at +4.8 (12th on offense, sixth on defense).

Kings Return Home from 1-3 Road Trip
Sacramento has faded to eighth in the West standings thanks to a 5-6 stretch in the last 11 games. Most recently, the Kings fell 112-105 at OKC in the final game of a four-game road trip, blowing a 19-point halftime lead in the process. De’Aaron Fox had a team-high 33 points in a losing effort, while Domantas Sabonis had a game-high 13 rebounds, helping the Kings finish +16 on the boards.
But Sacramento shot just 34.4% from the floor and committed 17 turnovers, erasing the benefit of the extra possessions.
The Kings are hovering midpack in both O-Rating (116.0, 14th) and D-Rating (114.5, 14th), and sit 16th in Net Rating as a result (+1.5).
Sacramento is also dealing with a rash of injuries at the moment. Malik Monk (15.4 PPG, 5.1 APG) is sidelined with an MCL sprain, while Kevin Huerter (10.2 PPG, 3.5 RPG) is out due to shoulder surgery. Keegan Murray (15.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG) is a game-time decision with a sore calf.

Pelicans vs Kings Prediction
New Orleans is one of the few teams in the league with a better road record (26-14) than home record (21-18), but I expect a big effort and necessary victory from the Kings tonight on their home court.
Blowing that massive halftime lead on Tuesday has to serve as a wake-up call for the team that finished third in the West (48-34) just last season. A win tonight would move the Kings within a game of New Orleans with just two to play. It would also move them within a game of #7 Phoenix with a date against the Suns looming on Friday night.
NOLA vs SAC pick: Kings moneyline (-115) – two units
