Despite his injury worries, the Green Bay QB can lead his side to victory in the NFC title game
Just when it looked like the MVP award will be heading to Houston and the gigantic arms of JJ Watt, Aaron Rodgers pulled off the almost physically impossible. On just about one leg, limping, he helped his Green Bay Packers get the win they needed to ensure that he’d get a break to rest his aching bones and practically ensure him of the personal honours at the end of the season.
It’s that kind of determination that you can’t buy and it’s the main reason no-one wins at Lambeau other than Green Bay. They’ve been excellent in the latter half of the season behind a balanced offence, an opportunistic defence and that never-say-die attitude.
The Cowboys have also had a superb season, beating all expectations and they will want to put up another big fight in the frozen tundra in Wisconsin. However, with their QB famous for failure both in the post-season and cold weather, back the Packers to win with a -5.5 handicap and for this to be an offensive showdown by both team combining for over 52.5 points at 13/5.
With two very strong offences, both ranked within the top five for points scored, we should be expecting an exciting affair. However, the Cowboys aren’t as strong as the Packers on the other side of the ball and it’s worrying when your defence ranks 26th against the pass, especially against a future Hall-of-Fame quarterback.
With that in mind, go for the first scoring play to be a Packers touchdown at 27/20, they are too dangerous in the air to be stopped early on. They might also struggle to hold them off late in the game when the Cowboys start getting desperate and with Green Bay having the best turnover ratios in the NFL, they’ll give themselves a few extra chances to score. They could run the score up late so look at them winning by between 13-18 points at 11/2.
However, the Cowboys are made of sterner stuff and whilst many think they’ll get a trouncing in Green Bay, they’ll want to try their best to give themselves a chance at an upset early on. With that in mind, stick something on Dallas winning at half-time before Green Bay make home-field advantage count at 6/1, it’ll be one last hurrah for a Dallas team that’s not gone down without a fight yet this season.
